in order to可以用在句首或句末,但so as to只能用在句末。 如: He got up very early in order to/so as to catch the first bus. In order to catch the first bus,he got up very early.(此时不能用so as to) so as to 和in order to的汉语意思应该是一样的“为的是,为了”。 它们的不同之处就在于so as to 不能用于句子的开头,在句子开头只能用in order to. 另外, 1.in order to 一般用in order that加从句来替换;而so as to 一般用so that加从句来替换。in order that 可以在句首,so that和so as to 一样不能在句首。 2. In order to get to school on time,he got up earlier. In order that he could get to school on time,.... He got up earlier in order to get to school on time. He got up earlier in order that he could get to school on time. He got up earlier so as to get to school on time. He got up earlier so that he could get to school on time. To get to school on time, he got up earlier.

在句子中通常做目的状语;不过in order to用法较为灵活,它引导的结构在句子前后皆可,肯定或否定没有限制,如:<1>In order to catch the first bus,she got up very early.<2>上句也可She got up very early in order to catch the first bus.<3>In order not to fail in the coming exam,he studies every day. He arrived here very early so as not to miss the chance to meet his friend.
查资料没有发现so as to通常用于否定结构中的说法,但均用于目的状语从句,in order to 在句子前后皆可,so as to只能用于句尾.

1.so as to(1)使得, 以致. 以致于 另外,so as to 只能放句中. In order to catch the train, she hurried through her work. =She hurried through her work in order to catch the train. ==She hurried through her work so as to catch the train. She hurried through her work in order that she can catch the train. >>of the order of 大约,左右;约与… 相似 (= in the order of)]
