　　白沙中学创办于1957年9月，是一座具有半个多世纪办学历程的县级重点中学。当时是白沙县小学戴帽班。开设初中一年级1个班，学生60人，教职工只有4人，教室仅为1间茅草屋。1958年3月，学校迁往现白沙县县府所在地，同年9月，学校摘掉了“白沙县小学戴帽初中班”的帽子，改名为白沙县初级中学，学生人数增加到123人，教师6人。1962年9月，学校设初中3个年级3个班，高中3个年级3个班，从此，白沙初级中学便成为一所六年制的完全中学。
